The Purely Solutions tax team wants to share a great tool for taxpayers who have questions about their accounts on IRS.gov.
To access your account details and minimize the burdensome and often time intensive calls with the IRS, you can login to your account by following these steps:
Go to Create or view your account on the IRS Website.
If you haven't already done so, you'll first need to set up your account. Be sure to have your personal information readily available (email, phone, Social Security Number, tax information, and financial account information).
Once you login, you'll be able to review your open balance, make an electronic payment, view your payment history, and pull transcripts to review a variety of information.
Please note the IRS advises that it can take up to 1-3 weeks for a payment to show in your history.
Check out some other great self-service tools on IRS such as:
Where’s My Refund to check the status of your refund.
Where’s My Amended Return to check the status of a filed amended return.
Online Payment Agreement to apply for a payment plan to pay off your IRS balance.
While these tools are helpful, they may not eliminate the need to contact the IRS directly in all situations. View the IRS contact information here.
And please keep in mind that we’re here to help you, too! If you have questions about your account, feel free to reach out to your tax advisors at Purely Solutions and we'll be happy to assist you.
